About the Agency

The New York City Mayor's Office is responsible for overseeing city services throughout the five boroughs, coordinating public agencies and departments, and managing public property. The administration is leading the fight in making the city more affordable, reducing inequality, improving public safety, ensuring delivery of efficient and effective services, and working to make New York City's economy stronger.

About the Team

For half a century, the Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities (MOPD) has been the liaison between the New York City government and the disability community. In partnership with City offices and agencies, MOPD ensures City initiatives, programs, and policies address the needs and interests of people with disabilities.

Job Responsibilities

The Chief of Staff is responsible for the day-to-day management and operations of MOPD. Provide strategic advice and guidance to the Commissioner and the Leadership Team. Point person on policies and hearings at the city, state, and federal levels.

  • Serve as liaison to City Hall, Office of the Deputy Mayor, City Hall Press and Communications teams, The Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City, City Council, Office of Management and Budget, Facilities and Human Resources
  • Assist with Intergovernmental Affairs: Integrating intergovernmental affairs duties; navigating complex government interactions, building relationships, managing hearings, and driving collaborative initiatives
  • Oversee external communications and correspondence and supervise the Director of Communications and the Constituent Services Manager
  • With the Commissioner and Finance, oversee MOPD's finance and budget operations
  • Lead internal meetings with staff; oversee and manage highly prioritized special projects, including all activities related to the agency's mission
  • Implement internal systems to ensure streamlined processes in MOPD; and support and assist staff

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 7+ years of experience
  • Excellent policy, communication, writing, research, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Experience with relationships with stakeholders inside and outside the city government
  • Knowledge of city government preferred

Salary & Benefits

$145,000 - $165,000 per year

Public Service Loan Forgiveness eligibility

100 Gold Street, Manhattan

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment.
