Chief of Staff – Engineering

Description

• Work directly with Gavin Wood, Parity’s Founder, to translate vision, goals, and ideas into clear decisions, aligned teams, and execution
• Manage the Founder’s context, priorities, and follow-through
• Anticipate the Founder’s needs and provide support when it matters
• Impose structure on competing ideas, ambiguous mandates, and shifting priorities while maintaining momentum
• Map second- and third-order consequences of current decisions
• Lead cross-functional problem solving between departments
• Engage with engineering leadership and drive operational progress
• Design and run OKRs, technical reviews, and decision-making cadences for the Founder’s leadership team
• Partner with the CEO and Directors across the business
• Bridge the Founder’s priorities with the Acceleration team’s execution
• Adapt communication across C-Level leaders, Function Leads, and junior team members

Requirements

• Background in engineering or engineering management
• Technical credibility to engage with CTO-level leaders, challenge timelines, and evaluate technical initiative viability
• Sufficient understanding of the blockchain ecosystem to distinguish substance from hype
• Experience running complex, cross-functional programmes at a senior level
• Ideally, experience leading a team or founding a company
• Ability to create clarity from ambiguity, manage without authority, and drive decisions in complex organisations
• Experience managing leaders, including more junior managers, is a strong signal
• Exceptional, clear, and adaptive communication skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with a demanding Founder, Function Leads, and junior team members
• Long-term perspective on decisions and their consequences over 12 to 24 months
• Genuine belief in and curiosity about Web3
• Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, ambiguous organisation
• A high-calibre degree is stated as important, but no specific degree is explicitly required; exceptional track record may compensate
• Must undergo a third-party background check through Zinc upon receiving an offer
• Must keep camera turned on during interviews without a virtual background
