Cuby

Chief of Staff

New York, United States
Full-Time

About Cuby

At Cuby, we design, develop, and deploy Mobile Micro-Factories™ that manufacture and assemble homes at scale. We are building a full-stack technology company that turns home construction into a faster, more industrialized, and more scalable process. Our product is the factory itself, and our team is engineering-driven, first-principles-oriented, and obsessed with operational excellence.

The Role

We are looking for a Chief of Staff to serve as the strategic right hand to our founders. This is not a coordination-only role. It is a high-trust operator role for someone who can move fluidly between strategy, analysis, execution, and system-building.

You will help translate ambitious ideas into disciplined execution across the company. You will create clarity from ambiguity, build systems where none exist, align teams around the highest-priority work, and drive critical initiatives from concept to completion. You will act as a force multiplier for the CEO and COO across engineering, manufacturing, commercialization, operations, finance, legal, and external relationships.

This role is designed to evolve into a broader leadership position over time. The right person will not only help the founders scale their impact, but will also become one of the key operators helping shape how the business runs.

What You’ll Own

  • Serve as a force multiplier to the founders by translating priorities into clear plans, decision points, owners, timelines, and follow-through.
  • Lead high-impact projects end-to-end across engineering, manufacturing, commercialization, operations, finance, legal, and external stakeholders.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to the founders by producing rigorous quantitative and qualitative analysis that supports major company decisions.
  • Build and run the operating cadence of the executive office, including leadership reviews, OKRs, dashboards, decision memos, accountability mechanisms, and follow-up systems.
  • Produce high-quality materials for internal and external stakeholders, including memos, presentations, board materials, investor updates, partnership briefs, and executive communications.
  • Partner with finance on planning, budgeting, scenario analysis, and resource allocation.
  • Develop a deep understanding of Cuby’s market, customers, manufacturing model, and strategic landscape, and turn that understanding into actionable recommendations.
  • Represent the founders in selected meetings and workstreams, ensuring decisions are documented, communicated clearly, and executed to a high standard.
  • Identify bottlenecks, friction points, and organizational failure modes, then install processes, systems, and tools that increase speed, clarity, and accountability.
  • Use AI, automation, and lightweight software tools where appropriate to increase leverage for the founders and the broader company.
  • Raise the bar on execution across the business by reinforcing urgency, ownership, clarity, and excellence.

What Success Looks Like

  • The founders are spending more time on the highest-value decisions and less time on coordination drag.
  • The company has a clearer operating rhythm, stronger accountability, and fewer dropped threads.
  • Cross-functional initiatives move faster and land at a higher quality level.
  • Leadership decisions are supported by sharper analysis, stronger materials, and better follow-through.
  • You become a trusted operator who can take on increasingly consequential parts of the business.

About You

  • You have 5+ years of experience in startups, engineering, manufacturing, operations, consulting, investing, military, policy, or other demanding environments where ambiguous problems and high standards are the norm.
  • You have a track record of leading complex, high-stakes initiatives with minimal oversight.
  • You combine strong business judgment with quantitative rigor and are comfortable working with models, operating metrics, budgets, and structured analysis.
  • You are an excellent communicator who can synthesize complexity into clear recommendations, crisp written materials, and decisive next steps.
  • You are highly resourceful, proactive, self-directed, and deeply accountable.
  • You are trusted with sensitive information and can represent senior leadership with maturity, professionalism, and discretion.
  • You are curious, fast-learning, and energized by solving hard problems under tight timelines.
  • You are systems-minded and naturally turn ambiguity into structure, structure into action, and action into results.
  • You are comfortable using AI, automation, and modern rapid-building tools to create leverage rather than relying only on meetings and headcount.
  • You are a broad-gauge operator: a general athlete rather than a narrow specialist.
  • We are especially excited by engineers or technically trained operators who want to expand into broader business and leadership responsibilities.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in hard tech, manufacturing, construction, supply chain, industrial automation, infrastructure, or other capital-intensive environments.
  • Experience with strategic planning, board preparation, OKRs, budgeting, or executive decision support.
  • Startup or scale-up experience.
  • MBA or other advanced training is a plus, but not required.
  • Financial modeling experience is a plus.

Working Style

  • Extreme ownership.
  • Low ego, high standards.
  • Strong bias toward action.
  • Comfortable going from strategy to detail and back again.
  • Willing to stay close to the work and do what the situation requires.
  • Loyal, trustworthy, and relentlessly focused on outcomes.

Why This Role

This is a rare opportunity to work side-by-side with the founders of a company trying to reinvent how homes are manufactured and delivered. You will have direct exposure to the company’s most important strategic and operating decisions, and you will help build the systems, rhythms, and execution engine that allow Cuby to scale. This is a role for someone who wants more than access, it is for someone who wants real responsibility, real ownership, and a path into meaningful company leadership.
